In the Global Legal Practice program, in addition to developing an understanding of legal issues and conflict resolution from a global perspective, students learn to develop business models and policy proposals for future global legal practice. In addition, students gain skills for global governance policy proposals, particularly with regard to Asia, and to support legislative systems in various Asian countries. Ll. degree is awarded to those who acquire these legal skills. 2. In accordance with the preceding paragraph, the basic requirements for the award of diplomas are the enrolment of at least one year in the Global Legal Practice program and at least 30 course credits in a program based on educational concepts and objectives. However, degree requirements for graduates without significant practical legal experience include at least 36 courses. The following curriculum structure and implementation guidelines are proposed for the Global Legal Practice programme to train staff with the necessary skills to act as experts in global legal practice and address legal issues from a global perspective. 1.

In order to achieve a more comprehensive implementation of the degree policy in this programme, the Global Legal Practice programme comprises nine subjects. These subjects are divided into compulsory courses, which form a core curriculum for global legal practice, with courses other than elective programs. Established courses include legal research and writing courses for writing research papers and practical training for practical skills, such as the internship course. 2. This program ensures that students acquire the fundamental legal knowledge and legal thinking skills that are essential to global legal practice. 3. The aim is to develop legal education through mutual discussion by offering training with opportunities for interaction between teachers and students. Admission Policy The objective of the Master`s programme (LL.M.) in Global Legal Practice is to promote lawyers who play an active role on the world stage, as well as the legal staff of multinational corporations and international organizations. The program welcomes candidates with the determination and ability to tackle the difficult task of gaining an understanding of legal systems not only in Japan but around the world and communicating that understanding in English. The selection process requires applicants to submit a statement of purpose when applying for the programme and career plans, as well as documents on their English language proficiency, character assessment, academic achievements in law and related disciplines, previous acquisition of legal professional qualifications, experience in legal practice and other matters. Each candidate undergoes a comprehensive assessment based on standardized quantitative and qualitative criteria.

To accommodate a variety of students, the program has enrollment periods in spring (April) and fall (September) tailored to the needs of applicants residing in Japan and abroad (international students). In accordance with these two registration periods, two application periods take place each year, with results announced separately for each period. Application period I usually takes place in May for entry in September of the current year and April of the following year, and application period II usually takes place in December for entry in April and September of the following year. So far, the Global Legal Practice Master`s program has accepted international students under the Japan Center for International Cooperation Human Resource Development Project Scholarship and the Japan International Agency`s Long-Term Training Program. However, the selection plan described above presents procedural hurdles for potential applicants in these projects and these applicants are therefore offered a special “Admissions Office” type selection (based on specific recommendations) that takes place every year from March to April. Building on these strengths, KLS will offer a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Global Legal Practice in April, with instruction entirely in English. The LL.M. The program hopes to attract lawyers, law school graduates, and legal partners from international companies who want to become truly global lawyers. KLS is also looking for non-Japanese students who wish to study law in Tokyo and graduates of Japanese faculties who wish to obtain a master`s degree and plan to work in an international institution. To educate students who will be globally active lawyers and legal staff of global corporations and international institutions, the LL.M.

program is designed for Japanese lawyers and law school graduates who wish to enhance their practical skills through an English language program, and international students who are interested in Japanese and Asian law. In addition, the program opens its doors to university graduates who wish to work in an international organization in the future. In the Keio LL.M. program, it will also be possible to obtain an LL.M. through a “double degree” agreement. a partner law school, initially in the United States, more quickly and at a much lower cost than would normally be required to acquire the two degrees separately. In this context, before the 12th anniversary of KLS, we are preparing the continuing education of lawyers capable of working in many areas that have developed through our globalized society. We have added a new Master of Laws (LL.M.) program in Global Legal Practice within KLS, while maintaining our current Juris Doctor (J.D.) program for aspiring Japanese lawyers.

The new program allows many students to earn an LL.M. degree in one year, teaching English, and was the first program of its kind at a Japanese law school. KLS was founded in 2004 under the founding principles of “Internationalism, Multidisciplinary and Pioneerism”. KLS has become one of the top law schools in Japan and trains many promising lawyers every year. In addition, KLS has built a strong background in internationalism, with many non-Japanese adjunct and full-time research faculty members and a program that includes more than 15 courses taught in English, usually with an emphasis on business law. In addition, KLS accepts between 10 and 20 exchange students from partner law schools in the Americas, Asia and Europe each year. (*1) The special recommendation applies only to candidates nominated by JDS or JICA. If you are not nominated through these organizations, you are not eligible to apply.
