Through the John Curtin Law Clinic and Curtin Link, law students have the opportunity to put their legal skills into practice and develop professional skills. You have the option to register for the clinical unit or receive a volunteer role. Under the supervision of experienced lawyers, you will meet and prepare advice and information for clients. Your participation in the Legal Clinic benefits your clients, the administration of justice and society as a whole. But it`s also beneficial for you as a potential lawyer. We assist small businesses based in Western Australia with legal issues related to leases, franchise agreements, contracts and consumer law issues. Some of the things we can help are: identifying legal options; Conduct legal searches; and the preparation of court documents. At the John Curtin Law Clinic, you will participate in the meeting of students and lawyers to provide quality legal advice. In this way, you reflect the value of service, which is an important aspect of advocacy. Students will engage under supervision in a range of practical real-world legal professional activities, including client interviews, targeted legal research, case management and professional advice as part of a legal advice clinic for real clients. At every turn, curtin Law School tries to integrate legal education and legal practice.

Law reform students at the Law Reform Clinic learn the role of non-contentious strategies for change – particularly legal reform. You will work with stakeholders to inform your own legislative reform project, with the aim that the student`s work finds real application.
